Skills for life

It's not often that our children learn skills which we hope they never have to put into practice.

On Monday the Year 5 and 6 classes had the opportunity to participate in a lesson with Cameron McFarlane, from Royal Life Saving, learning the important skill of cardio pulmonary resuscitation.

All the children enjoyed the chance to practise this skill on mannequins and were able to have their insightful questions answered.

Royal Life Saving is Australia's largest provider of water safety education. Their programs are designed to build awareness of dangers in aquatic environments and to arm the community with lifesaving skills used in both prevention and rescue.

Cameron was very impressed with the prior knowledge the children brought to the session but they all walked away with a newly acquired skill that we hope will not have to be used in the future.
